Mistaken Installation of Video Codec on computer made my computer slow. What Can I do??? Ask A Genie

I accidentally installed a video codec on my computer from a site(whose name I can't recall) I got from animekraze.org. Since then my computer has become very slow. Even the most simplest tasks takes an age to be completed. What do I do? My computer has almost 75% of free space.

Is it a virus? Spyware? Adware?

If so, why can't my Trend Micro Internet Security Suite not detect a thing? Except occasionally it pops out messages saying that they are adwares in my computer, but when I scan for them I find nothing!!

HELP!! I am my wits end!!! Anyone!! Everyone!! Help!!!!

First answer, go to Control Panel, Add Remove Programs, hopefully the codex is listed and can be uninstalled. If not, then hopefully you have System Restore in XP still turned on. You can choose a previous snap shot of your computer before you downloaded the codex. How to do it, go to Help on your Windows Task bar, type in System Restore, and it will let you run it from there. Hopefully this will clear up all the junk. Part two, after the restore, download a reputable codex pack from: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Code... I have never had problems with it to date. Best of luck.
